L199. Lab Kit Inventory and Return

In addition to preparing and returning your equipment, you'll need to complete WebAssign L199. Open the form now to see what information you're required to enter.

About time management: If you're planning to wait until Saturday to take the boxes to the post office, check in advance what hours your postal branch is open. Some branches aren't open Saturdays and those that are may be open only until noon.

  1. Checking the inventory

    1. Print this inventory list.
    2. Enter your name and the date in the cells at the top of the inventory list.
    3. Check your lab kit for listed items. In the Student column, enter the quantity of each item that you're returning. If the item is in working condition, put a check in the Condition column. If the item isn't working, make a note about that in the Condition column.
    4. Place your completed inventory form in the box of lab equipment. Also scan it and submit the file to WA L199.
  1. Preparing for shipment: Do the following even if you're planning to drop off the lab kit in person at the DEEP office.

    1. Pack everything neatly in the same USPS Priority shipping boxes in which the equipment was sent to you. Use padding material so that items can't shift position. The flutes, in particular, are prone to breakage. Remember that there are two boxes, one for the meter stick and the other for the remainder of the equipment. Include the pulley that was sent to you in the middle of the semester.
    2. Use packing tape to seal all seams of the box securely.
    3. Cover the old address label completely with white paper. Then write your return address and the ship to address below. Note that if you neglect to write your return address, you may not receive credit for returning it. We must be able to identify who returns the equipment.

    ATTN: Crystal Davis

  2. Returning the box

    1. If you're shipping the box, take it to a Post Office branch. You must ship through the US Post Office, since the packaging boxes are USPS Priority. Keep the receipt with the tracking number. Then enter the tracking number in WA L199.
    2. If you're returning the box in person to the DEEP office, take the box to ETC 326. Preferably give the box to Crystal Davis. If she's not there, here are some other people who could accept the box: Kathy Jackson (ETC 336) or Jennifer Betz (ETC 318). Make sure that the person you return the box to understands that you are returning equipment for the NCSSM Online AP Physics 1 course.
