video demo  V108. MiniLab: Speed of a Toy Airplane

The guide to Solving Circular Motion Problems gives examples of the 5 types of circular motion problems. These are the a) horizontal swing, b) level curve, c) car topping a hill, d) looping roller coaster, e) vertical swing. The video below provides an example of the horizontal swing.

Watch the video, Forces on a Toy Airplane:   Streamed / RealPlayer / Flash. Then complete the corresponding WebAssign assessment.

Note about measuring the period of the airplane: Near the end of the video, the airplane is allowed to circle a number of times to allow you to time the period. The demonstrator mentions using the RealPlayer clock. This, of course won't apply to you if you're not watching the video on RealPlayer. We recommend instead simply using a stopwatch or timer application to time the airplane. A revolution counter is provided on the video for your convenience.
