In Study Assignment E.2.1, you already did some
of the Ch. 2 Review and the Practice Questions. You'll continue
and complete the review and questions in E.2.2.
-
First, complete the Ch. 2 reading.
- Click
here to open the Ch. 2 Review. Study section 2.4. As
you study this material, you'll see the term magnitude being
used. You may already know what this term means if you've
studied vectors in another class. For now, it's enough to
know that the magnitude of something like displacement, velocity,
and acceleration is simply its numerical value without regard
to sign. Thus, if a particular velocity were -25 m/s, the
magnitude of that velocity would be 25 m/s. In the review
materials, you will also see the words distance and speed to represent
the magnitudes of displacement and velocity. However, there
is no single word that represents the magnitude of acceleration.
- Click
here to open the set of Practice Questions. You should
have already done Questions 1-5. Continue with Questions
10 - 18. These questions emphasize verbal interpretations of graphs.
This is for practice. Do not submit your responses to the instructor.
A note with regard to the hints given with the questions:
Some of these hints refer to particular sections or items in the
text. We've found that some of the references may be incorrect.
For example, you might be referred to Section 2.7 when the correct
reference should be to, say, Section 2.6. We suspect that
the references may be for the first edition of the textbook. This shouldn't be a significant handicap to a resourceful student.

Click
here to open the set of Practice Problems. Do the first 4
problems. When you're satisfied with your results, copy and paste your answers into BrainHoney assignment E.2.2 like you did for E.1.1. As a reminder, do the following:
-
With your mouse, select everything from Results Reporter through Problem 4. Type CTRL-C in Windows or CMD-C on
a Mac to copy the text.
-
Open BrainHoney in a new browser window and navigate to the Assignments folder. Open the assignment E.2.2.
-
Paste the text into the assignment window by typing CTRL-V in Windows or CMD-V on a Mac.
-
Submit the assignment.
